For once, there wasn’t a media blackout for big climate news. Activists put on the largest-ever climate march Sunday, and flooded Wall Street Monday in New York City, and actually got some attention.

Perhaps it’s the camera-friendly nature of a mass protest with costumes, puppets, and colorful signs, compared with the gloom of another report saying we’re doomed. But whatever the reason, Sunday’s march got more coverage from the cable news channels than climate media watchers are used to seeing.

It wasn’t perfect coverage, of course. Fox News chose to focus on the amount of trash generated by hundreds of thousands of people, and wondered if it would be better to focus on ISIS. But CNN, MSNBC, and Al Jazeera devoted significant time to not just the march itself, but its call to action on climate change. [Read more] – Michael’s Blog
