The year on Al Jazeera



Maybe it’s just me, but the last few years are getting tough to tell apart. Imagine a quiz question:

Name that year where we threw obstacles in the recovery’s way, but kept growing slowly; where Europe avoided both a disaster and a solution to its mess; and where China kept growing over 7 percent, but didn’t rebalance its economy like it said it wants.

Two popular Rockstar titles — “Red Dead Redemption” and “L.A. Noir” — are critical of the left

Following the success of Far Cry 3 and its spinoff title, Blood Dragon, it comes as little surprise that Ubisoft would want to develop yet another full-fledged Far Cry game—or Far Cry 4, to be precise. Though the studio has yet to make any official announcement about the next game in the series, Ubisoft MArketing & Sales VP Tony Key says that the publisher is “psyched” to reveal information about the game in the near future. SOFTWARE HOUSE Microsoft has spoken about the importance of its Xbox One console while announcing sweeping organisational changes.

Microsoft said the games console will be handy for small businesses to have around, and will be equally at home among cups of tea and laptops as it is around the house. [Read the full article]

The Xbox One is a powerful and sophisticated piece of gaming hardware. It has a huge amount of promise, but it will be years before it comes close to reaching its full potential. If only Microsoft could stay out of its own way.


One of the biggest challenges facing the upcoming launch of the Xbox One isn’t anything the system will or won’t do, but is instead the messaging Microsoft continues to muddle regarding its new hardware. The turnaround regarding the constant online connection and used game policy will go down as an epic flip-flop (even if it was the right thing to do), and the hits keep on coming. Next up on the Microsoft confuse-o-tron comes the news that there will be a headset included in the bundle. Or not. But maybe. But probably not.
